New feature for Hushmail Business customers: Catch-all email

June 8th, 2010 11:09 AM by Toby

We’re introducing a new feature today that we think will be useful for many of our Hushmail Business customers. Catch-all email allows you to choose one of your accounts to receive all email sent to email addresses that don’t exist on your domain.

For example, if your catch-all account is timmy@example.com, that’s where you’ll receive any email sent to accounts that haven’t been created, like tim@example.com or timothy@example.com.

You can use this feature to avoid losing emails when people misspell your name, or to easily accept all emails sent to common email addresses (sales@example.com, info@example.com, support@example.com, etc.) without creating or paying for those accounts.

To use catch-all email, sign in to Hushtools with your administrator account and click on View/change domain information, then Configure Domain. Enter the email address you would like to use as your catch-all account:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask our Hushmail Business customer support team.

New feature for Hushmail Business customers: Review recent login history

June 7th, 2010 5:21 PM by Toby

We’re often asked to have Hushmail display the last IP address that was used to access an account, so that people know if an unauthorized party has gained access to their passphrase. On June 28th, 2010 we’ll be launching a new Hushmail Business feature that displays information about your users’ recent Hushmail and Hushmail Mobile login history. We display the date and time of the previous 10 logins along with the IP address and the location we think the user signed in from. This information can be used to help detect unauthorized access to user accounts.

If you would like to see this feature in action prior to June 28th, you can do so by creating a free Hushmail.com account, where it is already available. We can also enable it for your Hushmail Business domain early upon request.

If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to get in touch with our customer support team.

An update on this week’s service issues

September 18th, 2009 12:43 PM by Toby

Between Monday and Wednesday this week Hushmail suffered several periods of incoming and outgoing email delivery delays. On Wednesday, we had interruptions in webmail and IMAP service which resulted in some people being locked out of their accounts for several hours. This happened following an unexpected spike in traffic to our website and email servers, largely due to an increase in activity by spammers.

As you may recall, we performed significant upgrades to our infrastructure in May of this year. This upgrade gave us with the ability to quickly increase our capacity to handle extra traffic by adding more servers. Unfortunately, this week there was so much extra traffic that we did not have enough additional servers on hand. More servers are on their way to us now and will be online soon.

Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve these issues. If you have any questions, or if you are still having trouble with your account, please feel free to contact our customer support team.
