An update on this week’s service issues
September 18th, 2009 12:43 PM by TobyBetween Monday and Wednesday this week Hushmail suffered several periods of incoming and outgoing email delivery delays. On Wednesday, we had interruptions in webmail and IMAP service which resulted in some people being locked out of their accounts for several hours. This happened following an unexpected spike in traffic to our website and email servers, largely due to an increase in activity by spammers.
As you may recall, we performed significant upgrades to our infrastructure in May of this year. This upgrade gave us with the ability to quickly increase our capacity to handle extra traffic by adding more servers. Unfortunately, this week there was so much extra traffic that we did not have enough additional servers on hand. More servers are on their way to us now and will be online soon.
